STEVE Allen’s fans have been left wondering why he is not on air today (April 22, 2021).

His loyal listeners are used to hearing him bright and early from 4am everyday.

Where is Steve Allen and why isn’t he on LBC?

This is the remarkable story of Steve Allen's Friday night - which listeners labelled the funniest half-hour of radio they've ever heard. Steve told the story of his journey from Twickenham to Chris Moyles birthday party in north London, which led to him nearly be arrested, witness two taxi drivers have a big argument and have a panic attack in a Premier Inn. Leading Britain's Conversation LBC - talk radio for the UK, letting you have your say on the big issues of the day and affecting London and the UK, with breaking news and opinion. Steve Allen - Gemma Collins. Well this goes without saying that Steve Allen (from LBC 97.3FM) has made yet another amazing remark about a 'celeb' (by using the quotes I do mean a wannabe-celeb).Yes, Gemma Collins is one of the creatures that have spawned from TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex) and as soon as I heard his comment about her I instantly laughed by arse off!

Steve

Steve hosts his morning show from 4am until 7am on Sundays to Fridays.

The show involves discussion of stories from the day’s newspapers, and his personal anecdotes and gripes about daily life.

However, fans took to Twitter today (April 22, 2021) to question why he was absent from his show.

The Sun has contacted LBC for a comment.

Why was Steve Allen off air before?

From February 17 to March 15, 2021, Steve was absent from his show “due to sickness”, according to LBC.

On March 3, 2021, following calls from fans to know how the presenter was doing, LBC responded with a tweet which gave fans an update on his health.

They said: “Thank you to everyone who’s got in touch to ask about Steve Allen.

“Steve is still feeling unwell and taking a few more days off. He’s asked us to thank you for all your kind messages.”

Steve responded by tweeting: “I am truly humbled by the amount of messages of support and promise you all I am doing my very best to be back with you all ASAP, a million thanks from the bottom of my heart.”

However his exact illness was never disclosed and he returned to his show on March 16, 2021.

What did he say about Meghan Markle?

Steve allegedly made a comment about Meghan Markle on air.

According to Twitter he is alleged to have made a comment about the Duchess and “fried chicken”.

However this has NOT been confirmed by LBC and Steve himself is yet to comment.

Allen first worked as a nightclub disc jockey where he met Dale Winton[1] and subsequently joined the United Biscuits Network, a radio station broadcasting to workers in the United Biscuits factories.[2] His voice was heard in Scotland, Liverpool, Manchester and London.

UBN closed in 1979, and Allen joined LBC as presenter of the Night Extra programme. He then moved on to present The Night is Young on the station. When LBC was separated into two stations- 1152 AM and 97.3 FM, Allen presented the afternoon show for 'London Talkback Radio' (now known as LBC London News 1152) and Saturday Night Out. Allen has also worked for Blue Danube Radio in Vienna, a station sponsored by the United Nations.

Currently, Allen presents the early breakfast show on LBC between 4am and 7am from Sunday to Friday. He also presents on a Sunday between 5am and 7am. In addition to these shows, Allen pre-records another programme for LBC- Steve Allen In Conversation- this show has not been broadcast since the spring of 2020.

In 2006 and 2007, he embarked on a live tour visiting theatres around the London area. In 2009 and 2010, Allen continued his sell out 'audience with' stage shows at the Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch and at the Mermaid Theatre in Central London. He was supported by fellow LBC presenter Anthony Davis. In February 2011, he performed again at the Mermaid Theatre, supported by mind-reader Graham P Jolley.[citation needed]

In 2015, Allen released a book entitled So You Want to be a Celebrity?.

Style of radio show

Allen is the only presenter on LBC who does not take listeners' calls during his programmes, although he does read out texts and tweets. Each of his early breakfast shows involves discussion of stories from the day's newspapers, Allen's personal anecdotes, his gripes about daily life, and his often critical and derogatory comments about celebrities. [3]

TV experience

Allen was one of five presenters of 5's Company,[4] a magazine programme broadcast on Channel 5 when it was launched in 1997.
